Having divided sections in the plate means they're able to eat easier instead of having to chase their food with a spoon or fork.
Please note: suction works best on benches and tables (stone etc). Suction doesn't work as well in plastic and wooden surfaces (although it can still work. It's not as strong on these surfaces). Plates and bowls still make brilliant feeding utensils for kids.
